Becky's Famous Chilli
 
 
As promised at the farmer's market in LO today, below is my recipe for chili, where the secret ingredients are Grandma Chonga's salsa. Yum!

Ingredients:
2 lbs ground beef
1/2 onion, chopped
1 teas. black pepper
1/2 teas. garlic salt
1 1/2 cups tomato sauce
8 oz. Grandma Chonga's original salsa
4 oz. Grandma Chonga's tropical salsa
4 tbsp. chili seasoning
2 15 oz cans of red kidney beans

Directions
1.) In a dutch oven over medium heat, mix the ground beef and onion and saute for 10 minutes or until meat is browned and onion is tender, drain excess fat.

2.) Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Reduce heat to low and simmer for at least one hour.

3.) Add additional spoonful of tropical salsa to each bowl of chili before serving. Garnish with sour cream and cilantro if desired.

James's "No Fat Just Flavor" Turkey Chilli 
 

Ingredients:


2   TBSP.  Olive Oil
1   Roughly chopped white or yellow onion
1   lb.    Ground Turkey
1   TBSP.  Chili Powder
1/2 TBSP.  Ground Cumin
1   cup    Grandma Chonga Original Salsa
1   8 oz.can  Pinto Beans
2   8 oz.cans Small diced tomatoes
1/2 TBSP.  Ground coriander
1   TBSP.  Sugar free maple syrup
1   TBSP.  Wine vinegar

 

Directions:
This chili has almost no fat or sugar but it tastes sweet and rich.


Drizzle olive oil in a medium hot skillet and add the chopped onion. Sautee for 5 minutes then add ground turkey in small pieces. As the turkey browns, add the chili powder, cumin and Grandma Chonga Original Salsa. After five minutes, drain the can of beans and add beans to pan. Add tomatoes, coriander, vinegar and syrup. Drop heat to low and simmer for 30 minutes. Add more Grandma Chonga's Original Salsa to taste.


Delicious alone or over rice
